A trip to and through some of the major (and some overlooked) highlights of Historic Birmingham, Alabama. From its founding as an Iron and Steel hub, to its struggle with Civil Rights, and everything in between. Over the years, we have developed relationships with the owners and staff of our historic sites, so we have organized special access to many of them that can only be found on this tour. Travel in comfort with an intimate group to explore the history of the Magic City.
A stroll through our existing and sometimes lost architectural heritage. It will cover the Theatre District, The Florentine Building (the cities most costly building per sq ft, at the time of its construction), the Heaviest Corner On Earth and points in-between. This daytime tour is offered several times daily, so that it can fit into nearly any scheduled visit to the Magic City.
Some places will be shared samples, others will be full meals that will have plenty of leftovers to take with you to enjoy later.
This all inclusive 4 hour lunch tour covers some of our most iconic lunch spots on the East side of the city. From the Irondale Café with its famous Fried Green Tomatoes to The Peanut Depot on historic Morris Avenue. We eat our way through fried chicken, BBQ, and mac n cheese. Grits, greens, and gravy are staples in a Birmingham lunch and we go to places that have them. James Beard award places to ancient hole in the wall spots you probably have never heard of. There are no big chains and pretty much everything you eat on these tours is iconic, freshly made with love, and uniquely Birmingham. Due to the volatility of restaurants at the moment, we cannot absolutely guarantee any given restaurant on our tour will be open, but we have so many places to choose from, we can guarantee a lunch that will leave you stuffed with some of the most delicious food you can put in your mouth.
