1963 Birmingham CIVIL RIGHTS EXPERIENCES

1963… Birmingham was being torn apart by the most harshly enforced segregation laws in the United States.
It was blatant. It was wrong. It was the law.

We have partnered with two phenomenal guides that were there during the struggle.
There is no better way to learn about the events than from the people who lived it.

WATER FOUNTAINS & WATER CANNONS.

MARCHERS & DOGS.

CHILDREN & CHURCH BOMBINGS.

We will not shy away from shining a light on a rather ugly chapter in our cities history…and that is what it is.  History. Our guides were there. They will present the history from their perspective. There will be discussions of what hate and misunderstanding led to.  You will walk in their steps and they will lead you to some of the most iconic and fought over sites.

We will walk in the steps of the marchers and protesters.  The steps of the Reverends Fred Shuttlesworth and Martin Luther King, Jr.  The steps of the oppressed and the oppressors.
